Our Work in School

As the Academy Council, we are responsible for helping to make decisions about our school life that help to change and improve things for everyone.

We meet half termly to discuss matters that need attending to, make suggestions and work together to find solutions. We then have the opportunity to feed these back to others in our classes.

So far this year, we have implemented our own book sale scheme as part of the Enterprise Curriculum Driver in our curriculum.  This has seen us helping out at Parents Evenings and the Christmas Fair to sell books to parents as part of our drive on reading which has generated funds to purchase new playground equipment for lunchtimes. This has made lunchtimes more enjoyable for everyone.

We also like to help out in the local community and some of us volunteered at the Salvation Army, helping to wrap Christmas presents for those less fortunate.  We have also organised and collected many items for Harvest which were donated to the Salvation Army for their food bank.

We also like to raise money for charity. In the Autumn term, we organised and held our MacMillan coffee afternoon, which was a great success with many parents joining us to raise money for such a worthy cause.

Throughout the Academy, we play a role in rewarding children too, organising attendance raffles and competitions for various events such as Christmas Hat Competition and World Book day book cover competition.
